Hi, I'm Akin Alarga — the founder and owner of ALA.
I'm a certified commercial diver and swim coach based in Merewether, Newcastle. ALA brings together my two lifelong passions: working beneath the surface as a dive professional, and helping people build strength and confidence in the water through tailored swim coaching.

I grew up in a small coastal town, surrounded by the sea. My father was a diver and sailor, and he passed on to me not only his skills, but also a deep respect for the ocean. That early connection continues to shape my work and values today.

My work spans two fields I care deeply about:
As a commercial diver, I provide a wide range of underwater services — including boat hull cleaning, underwater inspections, maintenance, and support for marine and industrial operations.
I also document my underwater work through underwater photography, offering clear visual records for clients and showcasing the precision of each project.

As a swim coach, I offer private and group lessons for all ages and levels — helping individuals improve technique, overcome fear, and feel at home in the water.

To me, diving and swimming are deeply connected. Whether I’m 30 metres below the surface or teaching someone their first strokes, I approach every task with the same care, professionalism, and passion.
